Düsseldorf went live in 2025 in DUS1, a Tier III+ building in the Innenstadt campus chosen for the same reason the Rhine-Ruhr region chose itself: the west of Germany is where the traffic actually lives. We lit ECIX Düsseldorf, signed Arelion and Cogent, and the first test instance answered our Frankfurt host at 4 ms — close enough that the rack could plausibly have been in the same city.
The site runs 0.44 Tbit/s of edge capacity at a 2 ms local median, with 3 ms to Amsterdam and 6 ms to London — the numbers of a city that sits between two exchange hubs rather than inside one. It is Germany's western artery, at the same price as Frankfurt, one grid and one IX away, for anyone whose users are in the Rhineland rather than in Hesse.
