Why Helsinki?

Helsinki, live since 2026, sits in HEL1 in Pitäjänmäki, the district that solved datacentre cooling by selling the heat to the city's pipes instead of the sky. We lit FICIX, signed Arelion and Telia, and the first test instance answered Stockholm at 3 ms — the flattest Nordic latency in the fleet.

The site carries 0.24 Tbit/s of edge capacity at a 3 ms local median, with 14 ms to Warsaw and 15 to Frankfurt. It is Baltic fibre at Baltic prices: Finnish users get a domestic rack for the same €1.90 a month as everyone else, and the 150 ms line to Seoul is a reminder that Helsinki is also where the eastern routes start.

Questions about Helsinki

The two answers people actually ask about this site, then the five we give everywhere.

This site

Helsinki or Stockholm — which one for the Nordics?
Three milliseconds apart, so choose by users and law. Stockholm's Netnod site is bigger at 0.28 Tbit/s and sits closer to the continent's west — 14 ms to Frankfurt against Helsinki's 15. Helsinki on FICIX is the eastern node — 150 ms to Seoul against Stockholm's 152 — and the natural rack for Finland, Estonia and the users east of the Baltic.
Why would a customer outside the Nordics pick Helsinki?
The price is the same everywhere, so the reasons are latency and redundancy: Helsinki is 3 ms from Stockholm, 14 from Warsaw and 15 from Frankfurt, which makes it a legitimate second Nordic site rather than a curiosity. And for anyone serving Finland directly, a rack in the country beats every cross-Baltic alternative before the first packet is sent.

Everywhere

Which region should I pick?
Measure, then read. Median RTT decides most cases: pick the site closest to the users you already have, then check the local law if that matters to your data. We do not charge a regional premium, so the decision is never financial.
Is the price the same in every location?
Yes. A Nano costs €1.90 per month in Frankfurt and in São Paulo. There is no regional pricing tier, no 'emerging market' discount and no 'premium location' markup to optimise around.
Can I move a server to another site later?
Take a snapshot, deploy the same image at the destination, restore, update the DNS. The console does not yet automate the migration end-to-end, but nothing about the price changes if you redeploy somewhere else.
Is DDoS protection included?
Standard volumetric filtering is always on and always free at every site. If you need application-layer scrubbing with custom rules, the Advanced tier costs €3.90 per month per server.
What IP addresses do I get?
Every server ships with one dedicated IPv4 and a routed /64 of IPv6, both announced from the site you chose. Additional IPv4s are €1.20 per month each, up to eight per server.

Payments from Finland

Orders from Finland are handled exactly like every other order: checkout in euros, payment in Bitcoin, Monero or any of twenty-four assets, and the server provisions on the first network confirmation. No card, no bank, no name that has to match one.
