SITE DOSSIER · NYC2

Why New York?

New York, live since 2024, is in a Secaucus building that hosts more internet than several small countries — DE-CIX New York runs in the same complex. The story of the site is the story of the transatlantic cable: 66 ms to London, 78 ms to Frankfurt, and the busiest exchange on the East Coast in between.

We run 1.1 Tbit/s of edge capacity here on Arelion, Cogent, Lumen and NTT, and it has become the default answer for customers who need a US presence without the California timezone. Six milliseconds from Ashburn means the cloud giants' own backyards are your neighbours; 92 ms to São Paulo makes it the sensible eastern edge for Latin America too.

Questions about New York

The two answers people actually ask about this site, then the five we give everywhere.

This site

New York or Los Angeles for US users?
Draw the line at the Mississippi and squint. New York wins for the eastern half of the country, Europe and Brazil — 6 ms to Ashburn, 17 to Miami, 66 to London. Los Angeles wins for the west coast and Asia. A split-brain setup across both is exactly what the flat price is for.
Is US jurisdiction a problem if I am not American?
It is a fact, not a problem: a server in the United States is reachable by US process regardless of who rents it. That is the trade for 66 ms to London and the lowest-latency US hosting you can buy from us. If US law is a dealbreaker for your data, the European sites are one click away at the same price.

Everywhere

Which region should I pick?
Measure, then read. Median RTT decides most cases: pick the site closest to the users you already have, then check the local law if that matters to your data. We do not charge a regional premium, so the decision is never financial.
Is the price the same in every location?
Yes. A Nano costs €1.90 per month in Frankfurt and in São Paulo. There is no regional pricing tier, no 'emerging market' discount and no 'premium location' markup to optimise around.
Can I move a server to another site later?
Take a snapshot, deploy the same image at the destination, restore, update the DNS. The console does not yet automate the migration end-to-end, but nothing about the price changes if you redeploy somewhere else.
Is DDoS protection included?
Standard volumetric filtering is always on and always free at every site. If you need application-layer scrubbing with custom rules, the Advanced tier costs €3.90 per month per server.
What IP addresses do I get?
Every server ships with one dedicated IPv4 and a routed /64 of IPv6, both announced from the site you chose. Additional IPv4s are €1.20 per month each, up to eight per server.

Payments from United States

Orders from United States are handled exactly like every other order: checkout in euros, payment in Bitcoin, Monero or any of twenty-four assets, and the server provisions on the first network confirmation. No card, no bank, no name that has to match one.

Two decisions, then a network

Pick a size, pick a site, pay in crypto. Moving later is one snapshot and a redeploy away.
